Applications of outdoor cables
The cable can be designated as duct (non-metallic). The cable can be installed by pulling or air-blowing into ducts or micro-ducts or on cable trays. Optical Fibre cables are used for triple-play applications (voice-video-data), in FTTx telecommunication projects, long-distance, backbone, metropolitan, broadband, intelligent traffic control and utility, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Cable Television (CATV), military, etc.

Cable Design
Non-metallic cable design
Outdoor cable – Tubes are gel-filled and stranded around a central dielectric reinforcement (FRP) by the reverse oscillation method (SZ). The cable core is protected from water ingress by water-blocking tapes/ribbons. Additional tensile reinforcements (glass yarns) are applied under (or) over the water-blocking tape, and the inner/outer sheath is high-density polyethylene.
Metallic cable design
Outdoor cable – Tubes are gel-filled and stranded around a central dielectric reinforcement (FRP) by the reverse oscillation method (SZ). The cable core is protected from water ingress by water-blocking tapes/ribbons. Additional tensile reinforcements (glass yarns) are applied under (or) over the water-blocking tape, inner polyethylene sheath, corrugated steel tape for rodent and mechanical protection, and outer polyethylene sheath.
